Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
